About the Blog and Author
This blog is dedicated to developing theory and practical advice for developing relationships between settler social movements and organizations and Indigenous peoples’ organizations and social movements fighting for social justice. This blog will seek to develop settler-anarchist responses to Indigenous movements for self-determination. Trying to provide head way in building a non-indigenous portion to the anti-colonial movement in Northern Turtle Island. The values underpinning these discussions will be a hybrid of anarchist ethics and mino-bimaadiziwin. While at the same time trying to push forward the need for intersectional, but revolutionary feminist analysis.
This blog also contains personal stories that relate to becoming a militant. Personal confrontations with hetero-patriarchy and other systems of oppression that were influential in my life, as well as diving deep into what it means to live and decolonize an erased identity.
I’ve lived in Anishinaabeg Aki all my life: Toronto, Orangeville, Sudbury, and now Winnipeg.. I’m a former member of Winnipeg Copwatch, IWW Winnipeg GMB, Sudbury Coalition Against Poverty, Sudbury Against War and Occupation, Canada Palestine Support Network, Students Against Israeli Apartheid, Student Revolutionary Faction, Occupy Winnipeg, and Winnipeg Indigenous Peoples Solidarity Movement/Friends of Grassy Narrows. These are groups dedicated to fighting the criminalization of the working class and oppressed groups globally; while my work in support of Indigenous communities and anti-colonialism has been central to these initiatives.
I’ve been going to school in the Masters of Indigenous governance program for 3 years, and educating myself in Anishinaabemowin and ceremonial practices for just as long to be able to eventually negotiate the gaps and organize non-indigenous peoples to address colonialism in our revolutionary organizing work. Currently I’m a correspondent and occasional host of the international news radio program, Warning Shots. Through Warning Shots I work on investigating the fissures and cracks in our societies in an attempt to provide the basis for development of a more rooted, grounded and successful movements to bring about global revolutions and social justice.
